ORGANIZATION: Amedisys Hospice Care- Hackensack NJ

Volunteering with Amedisys Hospice in Hackensack, NJ will bring you smiles as well. The care, compassion and connection that our patients recieve from every interaction with volunteers be it on person or remotely is a treasured moment. Those moments are not only for the patient but also the families and care teams. To know that someone is out there thinking of them changes their whole day.

Remote opportunities that can be done whenever you have a spare minute like writing birthday cards, sending penpal notes or post cards. There are also tuck in calls done once a week to check in on patients in their home and their families. A pice of mail can be that connection to the outside world, that call can feel like security blanket - someone is thinking about them.

In person non-medical roles are companionship visits. They can have heart to heart conversations, sit in comforting silence, hold a hand, read aloud or listen to music.

We also have special pinnings for veterans where the volunteers and the care team thank them for their service with a pin and a framed certificate. Are you a vet? Would you like to spend time with a fellow warrior with shared experiences?

Reach out and join our team of volunteers, we would love to have you. Just click the link and we will happily get back to you and explain the onboarding process and get you set with all the training and support you need.
