Position Overview: Volunteer Food Servers help create a welcoming and supportive environment at monthly community meals hosted at local housing sites. Volunteers assist with setting up the space, serving hot meals, engaging with residents during the meal, and helping with cleanup. This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful connections, support older adults and adults with disabilities, and contribute to a stronger sense of community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up tables, chairs, and dining supplies in the community room
- Serve hot meals to residents
- Sit and engage with residents during the meal
- Assist with post-meal cleanup, including clearing tables and tidying the space
Requirements:
- Comfortable lifting up to 25 pounds
- Friendly, dependable, and respectful of diverse communities
- Reliable transportation to chosen site(s) in the Merrimack Valley or North Shore
Time Commitment: Meal events are held monthly from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, during weekdays only. Exact dates vary by month and location. Volunteers will work with staff to determine a schedule that works best for them.

Description
AgeSpan, formerly Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation established in 1974 by a group of citizens throughout the Merrimack Valley who were committed to developing programs and services for elders. The Agency is governed by a policymaking Board that oversees the management of the Agency. Members are a blend of representatives from Councils on Aging and At Large members from communities in our area with 51% of members over the age of 60.
AgeSpan has become a leader in creating services, programs and opportunities for older adults. As an Aging Services Access Point (ASAP), the Agency receives state funding to provide services designed to maintain an elder's independence at home and in the community. AgeSpan is also the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA), receiving federal funding to fund community services and provide information and referral to elders, families and the community. The Agency also receives funding from a variety of grants, foundations and fund raising efforts and matching funds from local communities.
