ORGANIZATION: Bright Sparks Academy

Bright Sparks Academy is seeking passionate high school and college students to join our Software Development Team as volunteers for Summer 2025. This is a remote, project-based volunteer opportunity where you’ll build real applications that support educational access for underserved communities.

We are looking for committed student developers who are eager to sharpen their coding skills, collaborate with a team, and contribute to meaningful nonprofit tech projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React

  • Contribute to nonprofit web apps using tools like Next.js and TailwindCSS

  • Participate in weekly check-ins and collaborate with fellow student developers

  • Write clean, reusable code and assist with debugging and UI/UX improvements

  • Communicate regularly with team leads for mentorship and progress updates

Qualifications

  • High school or college student with interest or experience in web development

  • Familiar with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React or Next.js is a plus)

  • Able to commit 8-10 hours per week for 3 months (flexible scheduling)

  • Strong communication, self-discipline, and willingness to learn

Bright Sparks is a student-led nonprofit dedicated to redefining education by offering free, personalized, and flexible tutoring for young learners. Founded with the belief that every child deserves access to high-quality learning, we pair students with passionate volunteer tutors who tailor sessions to each learner’s pace, interests, and goals.

Since our launch, we’ve taught students across the United States and Nigeria, delivering over 1,500 personalized tutoring sessions. Our programs include one-on-one tutoring, interactive lessons, and skill-building workshops-all designed to adapt to the unique needs of each child.

Our goal is to close educational gaps, ignite a lifelong passion for learning, and create a global community where every learner feels seen, supported, and inspired. Volunteers are at the heart of our mission-mentoring, motivating, and making a real difference in the lives of students around the world.
