City Impact’s Literacy Program, known as Impact Reading or CI Literacy, is a comprehensive reading support initiative aimed at helping elementary students-particularly those in under-resourced schools-achieve grade-level reading proficiency. Struggling readers are matched with trained volunteer tutors who use a structured literacy curriculum to provide individualized support, aiming to bring each student to or above grade level in reading. Sessions typically occur weekly, at City Impact, and are designed to make reading engaging and confidence-building for young learners. The program is free of charge and relies on community volunteers to create a supportive environment that empowers children with the lifelong benefits of literacy.
