Main Goals for Position:
The Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program at PEVI promotes a creative means of communicating the park's national significance and its relevance to park visitors by connecting visitors to park resources through the arts.
Description:
Are you a painter, soundscape recorder, musician, sculptor, writer, or other form of artist? Perform your preferred art medium in demonstrations at the park to visitors, youth groups, and K-12 students. Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial is seeking an Artist in Residence for Don’t Give Up the Arts. The event will be held June 16 th -June 20 th and the artist will provide crafts for visitors to complete during the event. The volunteer should be comfortable with talking to large groups and have the ability to show visitors proper crafting techniques.
Position Duties:
As a volunteer, you will provide a fun and educational experience for visitors, youth groups, and students; helping them understand the significance of the resources of Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. Volunteers are required to wear the provided volunteer uniform and represent the National Park Service by acting in a courteous and professional manner with visitors, park staff, and other volunteers.
Qualifications:
Volunteer must have experience as an artist and must share art portfolio with park. Volunteer artist must have demonstratable experience and talent judged by the park to be beneficial for both parties. Volunteer must be 18 years or older.
