Akshay’s Light Foundation is on a mission to empower underprivileged youth through sustainable energy solutions, safe play spaces, and mental health support. As a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’re seeking a volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to help us secure the resources needed for our projects in Peru and beyond.
In this role, you’ll:
Identify and apply for grants that support our initiatives
Develop and manage a grantâsubmission calendar, including writing brief impact reports post-award
Organize fundraising events, such as community cleanups or awareness walks
Coordinate volunteer fundraising teams (e.g., peer-to-peer fundraisers, phone-a-thons)
Manage our online donation campaigns on platforms like GiveButter
Maintain our donor database (CRM), tracking gifts, follow-ups, and thank-you notes
Craft fundraising collateral (one-pagers, slide decks, social-media graphics) to tell our story
Steward donor relationships via personalized outreach, newsletters, and recognition programs
Collaborate with social media or marketing volunteers to run giving challenges & email appeals
Track key metrics in a simple dashboard (monthly dollars raised, new/recurring donors, campaign ROI)
Engage with potential donors to build lasting relationships
We’re looking for someone who:
Shares our passion for empowering youth and creating sustainable change
Has strong communication, storytelling, and organizational skills
Can dedicate 5-10 hours per week to this remote volunteer position
Is a self-starter-able to take ownership of tasks from start to finish
Has basic spreadsheet/CRM familiarity (even if you’ve only used Google Sheets)
(Optional but ideal) Has some Spanish skills or cross-cultural sensitivity when discussing programs in Peru
Is adaptable, solutions-focused, and excited to help build a fundraising function from the ground up
While experience in fundraising or nonprofit work is beneficial, it’s not required. We value enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
