Advocate for Hospice Patients by making Check-in Phone Calls

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: VITAS Healthcare of Marion County

VITAS is looking for caring individuals to share their voice and time as Proactive Caller Volunteers to help terminally
ill patients and their families.
If you enjoy talking on the phone and have time to make check-in calls, you may be a perfect ProActive Caller
Volunteer.
Our Proactive volunteers make "check-in" phone calls to our hospice patients and their family members.
You can work from your dorm room, apartment, home, or the VITAS office. You’ll call patients at home, asking how
they are doing, checking on needed supplies, listening, and identifying any service concerns.
VITAS provides free volunteer orientation to help you learn the skills required to be an outstanding volunteer caller.
Volunteering can strengthen your resume for post-college job interviews and careers.

About VITAS Healthcare of Marion County

Location:

1930 SW 38th Ave, Suite 101, Ocala, FL 34474, US

Mission Statement

VITAS Healthcare's mission is to preserve the quality of life for those with a limited time to live. They strive to provide compassionate, patient-centered care, focusing on comfort, dignity, and overall well-being for individuals and their families facing end-of-life challenges.

Description

VITAS (r) Healthcare is defined by the needs of the patients and families we serve. In 1978 our first patient, Emmy Philhour, made us this offer: "Help me stay at home, and I’ll teach you how to care for me." We agreed, and this commitment to service and learning still drives us today.

Like Emmy, each of the hundreds of thousands of patients and families we’ve served has taught us something about compassionate care. Today, as a leader in the hospice movement in the United States, we are continuing to evolve and meet the changing needs of those with a life-limiting illness and their families. As we adapt to the ever-changing healthcare environment, however, we are guided as always by our VITAS Values.
