ORGANIZATION: CARIBBEAN AMERICAN POETRY ASSOCIATION CAPA

The Caribbean American Poetry Association (CAPA) is seeking new board members to advance its mission. In particular, CAPA is seeking board members who have nonprofit financial oversight experience, social media expertise, and a deep interest in poetry performance.

The board is responsible for governance, fundraising, and ensuring organizational visibility. The board also ensures that CAPA operates within the purview of the law. Board members will be required to attend a monthly meeting, lead or assist with a project or program, serve on a select committee, and commit to a give/get pledge. Additionally, board members serve as 'evangelists’ who support and elevate CAPA’s mission.

Interested individuals are invited to submit a current resume and a short letter of interest articulating the reason(s) for wanting to serve on the CAPA Board, previous nonprofit board experience, leadership roles, interest in poetry, and Caribbean affiliation, if any. The mission of the Caribbean American Poetry Association is to advance Caribbean poetry in the United States; promote the work of Caribbean-American poets; and, bring Caribbean-American poetry to the widest possible audiences.

Description

The Caribbean American Poetry Association creates opportunities and participates in events that increase awareness about Caribbean and African-American culture. These events include poetry forums, open mics, poetry readings, poetry festivals, and other related activities.
