Role Description

The Accessibility Specialist ensures Big Break’s programs and resources are fully accessible to individuals with diverse disabilities. This role involves implementing inclusive design strategies and providing guidance on compliance with accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines. The ideal candidate is passionate about disability inclusion and knowledgeable about accessibility best practices.

Anticipated commitment is 3-5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and improve the accessibility of Big Break’s programs, resources and digital platforms, ensuring compliance with ADA, WCAG, and other relevant standards.

  • Develop and remediate materials for accessibility (e.g., alternative text, transcripts, and screen reader-accessible documents).
  • Provide training and resources to staff, volunteers, and partners on best practices for accessibility in digital and built environments.
  • Assist in arranging accommodations such as sign language interpretation, captioning, assistive technologies, and alternative formats for content.
  • Stay informed about evolving accessibility laws, best practices, and technologies.
  • Support the development of Big Break’s accessibility policies and guidelines.
  • Qualifications
  • Experience in accessibility coordination, disability advocacy, or related field.
  • Experience conducting accessibility audits and implementing accessibility solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of ADA, WCAG, Section 508, and other accessibility standards.
  • Passion for promoting inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in the Location-Based Experience industry.

This is a professional volunteer position with an anticipated commitment of 3-5 hours per week. As an Accessibility Specialist you will play an essential role in supporting Big Break Foundation's mission.
