Curatorial Internship - Museum Science

The museum curatorial intern will support the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum by working with the collections team under the direction of the museum director to maintain, catalogue, organize and potentially expand our museum collection. This position requires work inside an office environment and outdoors throughout the museum grounds.
This position will also provide the hands on opportunity for the intern to curate a special exhibit of antique farm equipment through research, fundraising, design, and installation (depending on the internship length and time commitment).
The intern will also provide education and interpretation to guests and use their creativity to improve guest experience.
Position requirements:
-High School Diploma or GRE
-Currently enrolled in a museum curator related college program, or be a graduate working toward a career in museum curation, museum science or public education.
Required knowledge and skills
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
-General knowledge of and/or interest in California history (primarily turn of the century)
-General knowledge of and/or interest in mechanical equipment, engines, antique automobiles, farming, agriculture, antique spinning and weaving equipment
Desired skills:

-Social media
-Childhood and/or adult education
-Public speaking
Time Commitment
16+ hours per week for minimum 3 months (Any days between Wednesday-Sunday)
*Part of the time may be remote work.

The Museum offers educational and recreational opportunities to the public through exhibits, demonstrations, activities and programs displaying the art of invention fulfilling necessity. Description
Located on 55 acres the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum has been in Vista since 1976. Over that period our Museum has grown to become one of the premier educational and recreational facilities in North San Diego County.
Our Museum's collection focuses on 1849 through the early 1960’s era with exhibits that actively demonstrate early American life and technology. Unique from traditional Museums, our collection is maintained in operating condition and used during a wide range of events held here on the grounds.
Since its incorporation the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum has become a parent organization to several other groups including:
