One of the greatest hurdles faced by newly arrived refugees is finding meaningful employment. While Heartland Care Services's employment team assists with their job searches, some our participants are interested in additional support. Heartland Human Care Services is looking for volunteers to help Ukrainian refugees find their footing in America. We are in particular need of people with an IT background to help several participants get their careers of the ground.
Some of the ways you will help your mentee include:
- Identify their talents and transferable skills
- Refine their area of career focus
- Career planning
- Help maximize their job search
- Provide resume assistance, job seeking tips, and interview preparation
Coaches are able to meet with their mentees in-person or virtually. We are looking for a six-month commit with the expectation that you two will meet about four hours per month at minimum.
