Volunteer fills a crucial need in helping to support activities and services for the patient and family. They develop and pick up community resources to deliver to patient homes and may also assist marketing personnel with outreach and activities at assisted living facilities and long-term care centers (e.g., BINGO, Farmer’s Market, Musical Pool Noodles, etc.). These events are meant to engage residents in recreational activities and serve to support the Hospice program.

Essential Functions/Skills:

• Ability to present a professional and upbeat demeanor with all community and facility interactions since the volunteer represents Traditions Health Hospice.
• Provide compassionate interactions with patient/family.
• Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and staff members.
• Be comfortable working in an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property.
• Must be comfortable serving diverse groups and cultures.
• Must have an outgoing personality.
• Must be able to communicate with administrative and clinical staff.
• Must be able and comfortable serving diverse groups and cultures.

Working in a healthcare setting, there is strict adherence to confidentiality/HIPAA. Ongoing training is provided.
