Join us in making history at the inaugural Black Montessori Conference, a transformative event taking place June 20-22, 2025 at Howard University. Hosted by the Black Montessori Education Fund (BMEF), this conference brings together educators, families, researchers, and advocates to celebrate, uplift, and expand Black leadership and excellence in Montessori education.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to support the success of this dynamic gathering. Opportunities include:

  • Guest check-in and registration

  • Session room support (moderating, timekeeping, tech assistance)
  • Vendor and exhibitor assistance
  • Event set-up and breakdown
  • Gala and reception support (June 21, evening)
  • Hospitality and attendee guidance

The mission of the Black Montessori Education Fund is to open doors for Black families and educators to thrive in Montessori spaces. We invest in people--creating pathways, lifting voices, and making sure the Montessori movement includes and reflects us.

Description

The Black Montessori Education Fund (BMEF) sees Montessori education as a powerful pathway to liberation for Black children, families, and communities. As a fiscally sponsored project of a nonprofit, we are dedicated to closing the opportunity gap by expanding access to high-quality, culturally responsive Montessori programs and resources.

Born from the urgent need for intentional, equity-driven support for the Black community, the BMEF is building a vibrant pipeline and network of well-trained, well-supported Black Montessori educators, school leaders, alumni, and advocates.
