Volunteers will have 6-7 rounds of short introductory conversations with adult job seekers. The job seekers are participants in our work readiness program and are experiencing some type of barrier to employment. Some are 1st generation college graduates, some are skilled immigrants navigating the US job market and some are workign through a career transition. The goal is to provide our job seekers with crucial networking experience and work on their elevator pitches as well build their confidence.

Description
StreetWise Partners was founded in New York City in 1997 when a group of young professionals recognized that they had access to resources that could help improve career mobility. They had career experience, professional networks, and an eagerness to share this with others. They realized they could use these resources to help individuals who lacked role models and networks within their communities. With a small investment and a borrowed conference room, the founders launched an innovative mentoring program that grew into StreetWise Partners. In 2006, the organization expanded its operations to the D.C. Metro area.
