Prince William County Office of Youth Services is seeking dedicated volunteers for the Right Step to Opportunities program - a diversion initiative designed to help youthful offenders avoid the juvenile justice system and build a brighter future.
As a Right Step Volunteer, you will:
- Participate in Community Conference hearings with youth and their parent(s)
- Help determine appropriate sanctions and positive opportunities
- Support youth in making better choices
Requirements:
- Complete training sessions on Right Step and best practices for conducting community conference hearings
- Commit to at least three hearings per year

Description
The Prince William County Office of Youth Services Right Step to Opportunity program is a new diversion program directed towards youths with low level misdemeanor charges. Addressing the youth with lower level charges should divert them from entering fully into the juvenile justice system. Only youth with certain charges, such as theft, vandalism, misdemeanor drug charges, simple assault and other non-violent charges are eligible.
