Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
SUMMARY:
This role is required to work with leadership to conduct research about legislation on water quality.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research about water quality legislation.
- Connect with government agencies to understand laws and regulations about water quality.
- Create reports for internal teams and/or external clients.
- Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.
- Attend weekly/monthly meetings as per schedule.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree completed or equivalent work experience (at least 3 years or more full-time paid corporate/non-profit work experience)
- A graduate in Biological, Chemical, or Environmental Engineer
- Experience in working with governmental agencies.
- Good analytical skills and willingness to learn.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Focused attention to detail and critical thinking.
Research & Engineering Associate: Water Research (In-person)
OVERVIEW
- Hybrid position in Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 6 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the set-up, development, and growth of a new water quality laboratory.
- Develop and refine analytical chemistry and microbiology experimental design, procedures, QA/QC methods, and data management approaches to assess water quality and contamination.
- Provide in-person water sampling and research support in the Marina Bay Laboratory (Ft. Lauderdale), Florida Everglades, and surrounding area.
- Document observations, analyze data, and interpret results.
- Communicate findings and environmental recommendations via technical reports and presentation decks.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- Preference for post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, such as chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering, or civil engineering.
- Experience conducting wet lab chemistry, microbiology, and/or water research experiments.
- Experience in developing and growing a new laboratory is an asset.
- Experience conducting fieldwork or working in a marine environment is an asset.
- Strong research, critical thinking, analytical, technical communication, and learning skills.
