Position Summary: USS is seeking a passionate and dynamic Volunteer Public Speaker to represent the organization and raise awareness about its mission, programs, and impact. The Public Speaker will deliver engaging presentations to various audiences, including businesses, churches, and community groups, and at fundraising events, inspiring support and involvement with USS.
This volunteer position is an integral part of USS’s outreach and engagement strategy and has the potential to transition into a paid role based on performance and funding availability.
This is a Hybrid position (with in-person speaking engagements as needed) based in San Antonio, TX and reports to the Founder/President & CEO.
Time Commitment: Flexible schedule, with an average of 8-12 hours per month, including preparation and speaking engagements along with willingness to attend in-person and virtual events as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Public Speaking & Engagement
Deliver compelling speeches and presentations about USS’s mission, vision, and programs to a variety of audiences.
Represent USS at community events, meetings, and conferences to raise awareness and encourage donations or volunteer support.
Tailor presentations to specific audiences, ensuring alignment with their interests and values.
2. Relationship Building
Engage with community members, organizations, and potential donors to build and maintain relationships.
Act as a key point of contact during events, answering questions and providing information about USS.
3. Fundraising & Awareness
Support USS’s fundraising efforts by encouraging audience members to contribute financially or through other means of support.
Collaborate with the fundraising team to align messaging and goals with USS campaigns and initiatives.
4. Event Support
Assist in planning and organizing public speaking engagements in coordination with the USS leadership team.
Participate in event setup and ensure all materials and resources are prepared for presentations.
Qualifications:
Required:
Passion for USS’s mission and a commitment to advocating for underserved communities.
Excellent public speaking and storytelling skills, with the ability to captivate and inspire diverse audiences.
Outgoing, confident, and professional demeanor.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to travel locally for speaking engagements (reliable personal vehicle required).
Preferred:
Previous experience in public speaking, advocacy, or nonprofit outreach.
Familiarity with the needs and challenges faced by USS’s target populations.
Knowledge of fundraising and donor engagement strategies.

USS was uplifted by Mr. Lee C. Wallace, USS Founder/President & CEO, who opened his home to build a community of support. USS is committed to transforming lives and creating pathways to stability. Since our founding in 2018, USS has been dedicated to empowering individuals and families through innovative programs and compassionate support. Each year, we’ve expanded our reach, helping diverse populations overcome challenges and achieve stability. Through strategic partnerships, community collaboration, and a commitment to delivering tailored services, we have steadily grown our impact year by year. Our primary focus is on supporting at-risk, homeless, LGBTQ, and aged-out foster care young adults ages 18-24. Additionally, we serve individuals with disabilities, senior citizens, and families in need. USS has consistently worked to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in need. Through dedication, innovation, and strategic action, we have achieved significant milestones, including serving over 800 individuals during the COVID pandemic and over 1,000 individuals post-COVID. Despite challenges, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing essential support, ensuring that the needs of those we serve remain our top priority.
