ORGANIZATION: UNITED SOCIAL SERVICES INC USS

Position Overview: United Social Services Inc. (USS) seeks a visionary and strategic individual to serve as our Chief Development Officer (CDO). This volunteer position plays a critical role in driving the organization’s fundraising, partnership, and resource development efforts. As USS grows, this position has the potential to transition into a paid role based on the success of the organization’s initiatives and funding.

This volunteer position is critical to the sustainability and growth of USS and has the potential to transition into a paid role based on performance and funding availability.

This is a Remote position and reports to the Founder/President & CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with USS’s mission and goals.

Build and oversee a sustainable development department, including donor cultivation, grant acquisition, corporate partnerships, and events.

Collaborate with the Founder/President & CEO and Board of Directors to set and achieve revenue goals.

2. Fundraising & Donor Relations:

Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

Create and maintain a donor stewardship plan to enhance long-term relationships.

Research and pursue grant opportunities to fund USS programs and initiatives.

3. Communications & Public Relations:

Develop compelling messaging and campaigns to effectively communicate USS’s mission and impact.

Represent USS through video capabilities for events, conferences, and other networking opportunities to raise awareness and secure support.

4. Team Collaboration:

Work closely with a development team of volunteers and staff to identify & secure funding.

Support the recruitment and development of a volunteer fundraising committee if needed.

5. Data & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, donor contributions, and financial goals.

Provide regular updates to the Founder/President & CEO and Board of Directors on progress toward development goals.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in fundraising, business development, or nonprofit management.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to secure funding through grants, donations, or sponsorships.

Strategic thinker with exceptional organizational and leadership abilities.

Passion for USS’s mission and a commitment to social change.

Existing network of philanthropic or corporate contacts.

Knowledge of donor management software or CRM tools.

Experience working with diverse populations, including those served by USS programs.

USS was uplifted by Mr. Lee C. Wallace, USS Founder/President & CEO, who opened his home to build a community of support. USS is committed to transforming lives and creating pathways to stability. Since our founding in 2018, USS has been dedicated to empowering individuals and families through innovative programs and compassionate support. Each year, we’ve expanded our reach, helping diverse populations overcome challenges and achieve stability. Through strategic partnerships, community collaboration, and a commitment to delivering tailored services, we have steadily grown our impact year by year. Our primary focus is on supporting at-risk, homeless, LGBTQ, and aged-out foster care young adults ages 18-24. Additionally, we serve individuals with disabilities, senior citizens, and families in need. USS has consistently worked to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in need. Through dedication, innovation, and strategic action, we have achieved significant milestones, including serving over 800 individuals during the COVID pandemic and over 1,000 individuals post-COVID. Despite challenges, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing essential support, ensuring that the needs of those we serve remain our top priority.
