Plastic Bag Collector (yes really!) - Ongoing Opportunity

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Agate Housing and Services

image_20250528123430

Oddly, we need plastic bags! We use plastic bags to make plarn. And we use plarn to crochet sleeping pads for people experiencing homelessness.

We are looking for someone who can work on their own to collect used plastic bags in the community. Collect from your friends, your faith community, your neighbors and anyone else? Check in with your local Buy Nothing group.

At this point, we can use as many bags as you can find. They must be standard size, clean, with no holes and with handles. Like the one in the picture!

The bedrolls we make give comfort and care to people experieincing homelessness in Hennepin County. These bedrolls are appreciated by those who receive them, but not something we have funds to purchase. Your bag collection helps us find a low cost way to support the people Agate serves with a little bit extra.

To end homelessness and relieve hunger through action and advocacy.

Description

Join us to end homelessness through action and advocacy! At Agate, we know that the path to homelessness is not a choice - it’s a challenge. When someone asks for help, they’re not just receiving shelter or housing. They’re entering a safe and supportive community where we work side-by-side for the change they need to stabilize their lives and rediscover their strength. Here, they don’t just survive; they rebuild. Volunteers are an important part of our work - join us!
