I am now on the board of NE-CAT that provides culinary training to people who have been homeless, recently incarcerated or have had problems with substance abuse. NE-CAT is searching for a pro bono accountant or financial analyst who would like to work for 4-6 hours per week classifying invoices and analyzing our revenue and expenses. If the person worked on Monday-Thursday, they would also receive a free, tasty lunch. Off street parking at 23 Bradston St in Boston is free. An introduction to NE-CAT can be found at their website https://www.ne-cat.org

About NECAT Culinary Arts Training

Location:

23 BRADSTON ST, BOSTON, MA 02118, US

Mission Statement

NECAT provides chronically unemployed adults with a pathway to stable, long-term employment in the food services industry through comprehensive technical and job readiness training and individualized support and employment services.

Description

NECAT is a catalyst for social change, helping our community's chronically unemployed bridge the skills gap, enter the workforce and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

We provide a 16-week Culinary Arts Job Training Program, which is offered free of tuition cost to 150 students annually. The program is designed to prepare graduates to meet the needs of food service employers looking for qualified cooks. Students learn not only the technical culinary skills required to work on a kitchen line, but also the job readiness skills required to secure a good job and the behavioral skills required to retain that job and advance in the field.
