Are you an active person who loves the outdoors? Do you like talking about nature and history? Do you wish for a break from school or work, while helping your local national park?


Park Rovers are volunteers who serve as mobile information centers throughout the park. By roaming the park, Park Rovers create conversations with visitors, answer questions, and protect park resources!


Cabrillo National Monument's Park Rovers offers history through the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and WWII buildings, pristine views of the ocean and city, knowledge of naval ships, insights on local plant and animals, and more.



DUTIES

  • Interact with visitors as they enjoy the park and its resources, and help answer their questions.
  • Monitor and protect the park's natural and cultural resources.
  • If interested, assist with habitat monitoring project of invasive, non-native species in the park.
  • Ensure a safe environment for staff, volunteers, and the public by adhering to safety and health regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be reliable and committed to at least 8 volunteer hours per month.
