Raw Earth Foundation was born from a deep-rooted dedication to service and a love for all things wild. In 2016, while our founder Raven Petca was volunteering on an organic farm in Ecuador, she witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of climate change on the Amazon. The eye-opening experience strengthened her determination to take action toward environmental challenges, and there she promised to do everything she could to help. In 2023, after nearly seven years of research and reflection, she founded Raw Earth Foundation.Today, the organization is dedicated to restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and creating sustainable green spaces, fulfilling the promise she made.

What we are doing Now:

The early stages of Raw Earth Foundation have been centered around establishing fundraising platforms to support our mission and programs. These efforts have created a strong foundation for the future growth of our initiatives. Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our team, strengthen our programs, and enhance our online presence. In addition, we are eager to acquire and develop facilities that will further support our programs.

What a "day in the life" of a Raw Earth Foundation Front-End Software Developer will look like:

The Front-End Developer will be instrumental in building Raw Earth Foundation’s community-focused digital platform-a tool designed to empower environmental action, connect volunteers, and measure ecosystem restoration. In this volunteer role, you’ll collaborate with designers and back-end developers to translate UI/UX wireframes into engaging, responsive user experiences. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to apply their technical skills to a meaningful cause and help shape a product from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

Interface Development:
Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly front-end components using modern frameworks and best practices.

Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, designers, and back-end developers to integrate features and ensure a cohesive user experience.

Design Implementation:
Translate Figma mockups or wireframes into high-quality code while maintaining design integrity and functionality.

Feature Deployment:
Contribute to the development and rollout of key platform features, including dashboards, mapping tools, and user engagement modules.

Code Maintenance:
Write clean, maintainable code and assist in troubleshooting and resolving bugs or UI/UX issues.

Performance Optimization:
Ensure front-end performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

Documentation:
Document your code, workflows, and component usage to support long-term maintenance and scalability.

Innovation:
Contribute ideas for how front-end technology can further support Raw Earth’s mission to restore ecosystems and engage communities.

Qualifications & Experience Necessary for the Role:

• Based in the United States

• Available to respond to emails/messaging/inquiries within 24 hours

• Experience with front-end development using frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular

• Strong understanding of HTML, Azure, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub)

• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a remote environment

• Passion for environmental sustainability and Raw Earth Foundation’s mission

• Commitment to contributing at least 5-10 hours per week on a flexible schedule

• Familiarity with our tech stack and tools (ClickUp PMS, Slack, GitHub, Canva, etc.) or willingness to learn

• Strong sense of community

  Once you complete and submit your initial application:

  • Your credentials will be reviewed by our hiring staff.

  • Based on our needs and qualifications, an HR team member will contact you to schedule an interview if you are selected to move forward by Senior Leadership.

  • Within 7 business days of the interview, we will provide you a status on your application or an offer for the position.

  • Upon acceptance of an offer, we require the signing of our Volunteer Agreement/NDA.

  • A formal onboarding session will then be scheduled with Human Resources to walk you through our tools, platforms, standard communication, workflow procedures, and the like. You will then be provided a project and/or task list to get started on within 48 to 72 hours.

Therefore, this role will offer a variety of non-monetary benefits, such as credit documentation and/or public recognition.
