ORGANIZATION: SoulPhamm Inc

SoulPhamm is recruiting a talented hip-hop choreographer to join our Coaching Team in support of NU SIGMA THETA, our Sorority which specializes in Stepping and Strolling. The coach will work with us for the 2025-2026 season which runs from June 2025 to June 2026.

Starting in late August, the Choreographer will begin working with the girls to prepare them for parades and other events. Their work will be supported by an "In-person" Coach who will reinforce what they learn during Saturday practices. Though contact with the team would not begin until August, the Choreographer will work with the in-person Coach and Director over the summer months to plan during a time that is mutually convenient for all.

The Coach should schedule a weekly virtual practice on any evening of their choosing (ideally a 7pm or 8pm start). This group currently meets virtually on Fridays at 7pm, so an 8pm session on Friday would be ideal.

The Choreographer will need to study HBCU style Sorority "strolling" and then choreograph and teach a signature stroll for the team which serves seven girls (ages 12-18).

The Sorority will travel with our hip-hop majorette dance team often appearing in parades and other sporting events. The ideal Choreographer will bring expertise in creating innovative hip-hop choreography and demonstrate the ability to effectively teach students across all skill levels. They must be capable of mastering and instructing HBCU-style strolling, while helping participants refine their choreography execution and cultivate compelling stage presence. There will be two sorority leaders at practice to assist in ensuring that the girls pick-up the routine in the Choreographer's absence.

A highly creative high school junior or senior can apply for community service hours.

About SoulPhamm Inc

Location:

7000 Hadley Road, Suite 1177, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.

Description

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.

SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
