Be a Hero: Provide a Loving Foster Home for a Senior or Special-Needs Dog with Hugs For Harry!
Imagine a gentle senior dog, overlooked in a shelter, finally feeling the warmth of a loving home. Or a special needs dog, once vulnerable, now thriving in a safe and supportive environment. You can make this a reality!
Hugs For Harry is a compassionate 501(c)(3) dog rescue based in Orinda, CA, dedicated to giving senior and special needs dogs a second chance at life. As a 100% volunteer organization, we rely entirely on the generosity of foster families to provide temporary havens for these deserving animals while we search for their forever homes.
Senior and special needs dogs often face the greatest challenges in finding rescue and adoption. They need extra love, patience, and understanding - and that's where you come in.
As a Foster Parent with Hugs For Harry, You Will:
Offer a Safe and Comfortable Home: Provide a loving environment where a dog can relax, heal, and feel secure.
Provide Daily Care: Offer food, water, exercise, and of course, lots of love and attention.
Help Us Learn About the Dog: Share valuable insights into their personality and needs to help us find the perfect forever match.
Potentially Transport to Vet Appointments: As needed, transport your foster dog to veterinary appointments (within the local area).
What We Offer:
Unwavering Support: Our dedicated volunteer team will be there for you every step of the way.
Financial Assistance: Hugs For Harry covers all necessary veterinary expenses. We often provide food and other essential supplies.
The Unconditional Love of a Dog: Experience the immense gratitude and companionship of a dog in need.
The Satisfaction of Saving a Life: Know that you are making a profound difference in the life of a vulnerable animal.

Description
Open Your Heart and Hands: Volunteer with Hugs For Harry and Save a Life
Imagine the silent heartbreak within our county shelters, where dedicated staff are overwhelmed by the sheer number of abandoned dogs arriving daily. To create desperately needed space, these shelters are forced to make the devastating choice of euthanizing adoptable animals - a tragic reality hidden from public view.
Hugs For Harry was born from a desire to combat this crisis. We are a small, passionate non-profit organization committed to rescuing as many dogs as we can responsibly care for, with a particular focus on senior and special-needs dogs who often face the greatest challenges in finding forever homes. We believe that every dog, regardless of age or medical condition, deserves love, comfort, and a chance at a happy life. We never turn a dog away.
We are seeking compassionate, kind, and enthusiastic volunteers who have time to contribute their skills and energy. If you are looking for a meaningful way to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable animals, we need you!
