Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: LAMONT MEYERS FOUNDATION INC

We are hoping to recruit 10-20 volunteers who can help with event logistics and planning. The event is a 5k community walk/run to spread awareness about naloxone, saving lives, administering naloxone, and remembering those lost to overdose.

  • In preparation for the 11/1/25 5k, we are seeking volunteers to help with fundraising/reaching out for sponsors to be featured on a t-shirt. This can be done virtually.
  • On Sat., 11/1/25, at 7:00 a.m., we will begin setting up for the 5k walk/run at Hagan Community Park that begins at 9:00 a.m.
    • Set up of a hydration station, mile markers, snack station, check-in station, etc.
    • Presenter/speaker assistance, e.g., naloxone demonstration help.
    • "Runner" to help out with as-needed tasks during the event.
    • Pass out flyers, materials, snacks, and other swag/freebies to 5k participants.
    • Clean up anticipated to be between 12-2 p.m.

Mission Statement

The Lamont Meyers Foundation's mission revolves around raising funds to acquire and distribute 19,000 naloxone kits. This number symbolizes Lamont's untimely passing on his 19th birthday. By ensuring the widespread availability of naloxone, we look forward to protecting our youth, families, and communities from the devastating consequences of drug overdoses & poison.

Description

Our purpose is to help stop and prevent fatal drug overdoses in our communities by ensuring that naloxone is readily available and accessible. We aim to raise awareness about the increasing prevalence of fentanyl overdoses & poison, driven by the statistic that 4 in 5 deaths in the US by 2022 will be caused by such overdoses. Inspired by the tragic loss of our son Lamont Meyers to a fentanyl poisoning, our mission is to raise funds to purchase and distribute 19,000 naloxone kits, prioritizing the safety and well-being of our youth, families, and communities.
