As a Pet Support Hospice Volunteer, you and your well-behaved, friendly pet will offer comfort, companionship, and emotional support to hospice patients and their families. This role focuses on providing a calming presence and a sense of normalcy through animal interaction, helping to ease anxiety and bring moments of joy during a difficult time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Visit patients in their homes, care facilities, or hospice centers with your pet.

• Offer companionship, emotional support, and gentle interaction with your pet (petting, sitting nearby, etc.).

• Follow all hospice policies, including infection control, confidentiality, and safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

• A calm, friendly, and well-socialized pet (dogs, cats, or other suitable animals).

• Strong interpersonal and listening skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Must complete basic hospice volunteer training (no therapy animal certification required).

• Up-to-date veterinary records and proof of vaccinations for the pet.

Commitment:

• Flexible schedule, typically 1-4 hours per week.

• Minimum commitment of 6 months preferred.
