Advance Civic Engagement: Digital Content & Social Media Specialist (Volunteer)

Are you passionate about making a tangible impact and transforming complex information into compelling digital experiences? We're seeking a hands-on and creative volunteer Digital Content & Social Media Specialist to be at the forefront of our mission: to demystify government financial literacy and champion tax transparency. This isn't just about posting online; it's about actively creating high-impact content and strategically managing our digital presence to foster a more informed and engaged citizenry. If you thrive on crafting engaging digital assets and running social media channels, join our dedicated team!

What You'll Do & The Skills You'll Build:

This pivotal volunteer role offers a unique opportunity to build a robust portfolio and gain hands-on experience in vital digital marketing and communications functions. You'll work closely with our team to amplify crucial research and generate public discussion through your direct contributions.

  • Content Strategy & Production:
    • Develop and execute a dynamic content calendar across key social media platforms (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube)
    • Serve as a creator for engaging digital assets, including eye-catching infographics, compelling short-form videos, impactful social media posts, and concise explanatory graphics. You'll translate complex government financial concepts into easily digestible insights.
    • Craft compelling narratives from raw data and research, simplifying complex topics without losing their essence to resonate with a broad public audience.
  • Social Media Management & Engagement:
    • Manage daily operations of our social media channels, including scheduling and publishing content, monitoring trends, and actively engaging with our followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions.
    • Implement data-driven adjustments by tracking and analyzing the performance of your content and social media campaigns, using insights to refine future strategies and improve engagement metrics.
  • Digital Campaign Execution:
    • Directly execute social media campaigns for vital policy discussions, tax transparency initiatives, and fundraising efforts. Your work will directly support our ability to educate and inspire action.
    • Identify and engage with key influencers, journalists, and organizations within the government transparency and civic education spaces.
  • Brand & Communications:
    • Ensure all digital communications consistently reflect our organization's mission and distinct voice, building a cohesive and trustworthy brand presence across all platforms.
Who We're Looking For:

We're seeking an individual driven by the desire to "pay it forward" and empower citizens through knowledge. This role is perfect for someone looking to gain valuable experience, build a professional portfolio, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

  • A genuine passion for government transparency, financial literacy, and civic education. (Useful background, but we can teach so don't let that hold you back)
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in creating digital content (e.g., social media graphics, short videos, compelling written posts).
  • Practical experience in managing and publishing content on major social media platforms helpful.
  • Strong command of written communication and storytelling - the ability to simplify complex ideas without sacrificing clarity.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, AI Image Generation) or basic video editing software is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a content schedule, and collaborate effectively with a small, dedicated team.
Time Commitment:

This is a flexible role, ideally requiring 5-10 hours per week, adaptable to your schedule and our campaign needs. We value your commitment and will work with you to ensure a rewarding experience.
