Description
Lighthouse Cruise Volunteers join Park Rangers and other staff on 2-hour long boat rides across the Boston Harbor. They maintain a safe environment on the vessel, help answer any visitor questions, and assist with preparation and clean up.
Time Commitment:
Lighthouse Tour Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 3 shifts for the 2024 season (shifts available June 28-September 20). Shifts are scheduled in 3-hour increments. Volunteers are needed on Saturdays and limited Fridays.
Major Duties:
- Welcome and interact with passengers.
- Assist park staff with passenger check-in procedures.
- Assist park staff in escorting passengers as a group to appropriate location for boarding of vessel.
- Assist passengers in complying with captain/crew instructions.
- Mingle with passengers, answering questions, sharing maps, and graphics.
- Point out areas of interest for passengers.
- Ensure a safe environment for staff, volunteers, and passengers by adhering to safety and health regulations (see section below).
- Ability to assist in emergency situations up to level of training and comfort.
- Communicate supply needs and updates to supervisor(s) as needed.
- Sign up for shifts and log appropriate hours in a timely manner.
