Spanish Translator - Pantry Sites

ORGANIZATION: One Community

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

One Community is looking to recruit 10-12 people who speak Spanish available Saturday mornings to assist a team of 10 other volunteers per site at community pantries throughout Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. There are three sites to meet the needs of the three major public housing developments in the neighborhood. Tasks include:

  • Communicating with recipients about site and additional messages
  • Creating a fun and respectful environment for all workers and pantry recipients
  • Checking-in and registering households
  • Moving food as needed on site
  • Cleaning up the site and distributing excess food
  • Addressing any issues and surveying whether recipients are satisfied with their experience

As interested: Coordinate the communication strategy of the pantry to reach more recipients

Many local organizations do important, effective community work core activities. One Community asks that they explore how to maximize the number of local people in their community programs.One Community asks institutions to make local equal opportunity and the dismantling neighborhood barriers high-level institutional goals. Participating organizations will broadly and creatively examine all their operations to see what they can do as service providers, employers, owners of facilities, leaders and advocates, trainers and educators, etc. to advance local equity and sharing. The leading institutions will confer on an executive organization-wide authority to promote the goals.
