Trinity Hospice is seeking compassionate Veteran volunteers to provide specialized support to fellow Veterans in hospice care. What does a Veteran-to-Veteran Hospice Volunteer do?

Our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers provide companionship, emotional support, and a sense of camaraderie to Veteran patients. Your service can include:

  • Sharing stories and experiences: Connecting with Veterans through shared military experiences and understanding their unique perspectives.

  • Providing a listening ear: Offering a safe and non-judgmental space for Veterans to share their stories, concerns, and reflections on their service.

  • Honoring their service: Acknowledging and appreciating the sacrifices made by Veteran patients.

  • Offering support to families: Providing support and understanding to the families of Veteran patients, recognizing the unique challenges they may face.

  • Reading military-related materials: Sharing books, articles, or poems related to military history or experiences.

  • Simply being present: Offering a comforting presence and a sense of connection with someone who understands their background.

  • Collaborating with the hospice team: Working alongside nurses, social workers, and other professionals to ensure the specific needs of Veteran patients are being met.

Description

Trinity Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide friendly visits and caregiver relief/respite sitting for terminally ill patients and their families. We may have many ways for volunteers to engage and change the lies of our patients. If this speaks to you, we welcome your willingness to serve.
