Are you passionate about education equity and ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed? Learning & Educational Solutions (L.E.S.) is seeking dynamic and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors and help drive our mission forward!
About L.E.S.
L.E.S. is dedicated to empowering at-risk NYC students by addressing the root causes of school dropouts and providing critical support through our ROAD 2 Model-Removing Obstacles, Achieving Dreams. Specializing in Educational Crisis Management and non-pedagogical intervention services, we work closely with students, families, and communities to bridge the gap between home and school, ensuring every student has the resources and guidance needed to thrive.
We are seeking individuals who:
Are passionate about educational equity and youth development
Bring expertise in, but not limited to, finance, marketing, media, public relations, law, social media, technology, data analysis, education, nonprofit management, fundraising, and/or community engagement
Have experience in board service or a willingness to learn and contribute
Are committed to advancing the mission of L.E.S. and expanding its impact
Ideally, candidates come from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds which could benefit the current needs of L.E.S. We take pride in representing ideas and perspectives that are inclusive of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Board Member Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and governance for the organization
Support fundraising and development efforts to sustain and grow our programs
Advocate for L.E.S. within your networks and the broader community
Attend regular board meetings and actively participate in committee work

Learning & Educational Solutions (L.E.S) is dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk students by addressing the root causes of school dropouts and empowering them to achieve self-efficacy. Through our innovative ROAD 2 Model--Removing Obstacles, Achieving Dreams--we provide the resources, guidance, and support necessary for students, families, and communities to overcome barriers to education. Specializing in Educational Crisis Management, non-pedagogical intervention services, and creating resources for underserved families and communities, L.E.S works tirelessly to improve educational outcomes and foster holistic development. By collaborating with parents, school staff, and students, we bridge the gap between home and school to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed academically and beyond.
Description
For nearly 10 years, we have worked with disengaged middle school and high students at-risk of dropping out of NYC public schools, who are typically overage and under-credited. These students may have experienced chronic absenteeism, school transfers, disciplinary issues, or personal hardships such as housing instability, caregiving responsibilities, or mental health struggles. Many have fallen behind in credits and require alternative pathways.
Programming Highlights: Dropout Prevention Services provides comprehensive support to overage and under-credited students who require alternative educational pathways to complete their high school graduation requirements. Through personalized outreach and interventions, wellness checks, and family and needs assessments conducted by our Educational Crisis Team, we engage students who have disengaged or dropped out of school, connecting them to transfer schools, CTE programs, or work/study opportunities tailored to their needs, ensuring that each student receives the guidance and resources necessary to re-enter and thrive in their educational journey.
Road 2 Graduation (R2G): R2G provides direct academic and social-emotional support to high school students struggling to meet graduation requirements. Experienced Educational Specialists work closely with students, offering in-class and remote tutoring, test preparation, and real-time assistance to ensure coursework is completed successfully.
