Make a Difference in Someone’s Life - Become a Hospice Volunteer
Are you compassionate, a good listener, and looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? We invite you to become a Hospice Volunteer and provide companionship and emotional support to patients facing life-limiting illnesses.
Position Summary:
As a Patient Companion Volunteer, you will visit hospice patients in their homes, assisted living, or nursing facilities in the Livonia area. Your presence alone can provide great comfort. Volunteers may engage in light conversation, read aloud, listen to music together, or simply offer a calming presence.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Offer companionship and emotional support to patients
Provide respite and peace of mind to caregivers
Read, talk, play music, or sit quietly with the patient
Maintain patient confidentiality and respect cultural and personal values
Record brief visit notes as needed
Requirements:
At least 18 years old
Complete hospice volunteer training (provided)
Background check and TB test (provided at no cost)
Reliable transportation
Commitment of at least 2-4 hours per month
