About Amedisys Hospice Newark

Location:

111 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713, US

Mission Statement

At Amedisys, we believe that hospice is a gift that too few Americans receive. More than half of eligible patients do not elect it. Among those who do, most only experience its benefits for days or weeks, despite the fact that those with a life expectancy of six months or less are eligible. Our team members are available 24/7, offering peace of mind for patients and families, and we’ve invested in developing unique, evidence-based programs for patients with certain diagnoses or demographics.

Description

At Amedisys, we believe strongly in the profound impact of hospice care, recognizing it as a gift that provides comfort, dignity, support and quality time for the patient and their family during the end of life.

While most Americans prefer to die at home, more than half of patients eligible for hospice do not elect to receive it. Among those who do, most only experience hospice care for a few days or weeks, despite the fact that patients with a life expectancy of six months or less are eligible.

Unfortunately, because of this, one of the most common phrases we hear from patients’ families is, "We wish we had known about hospice sooner."

As you and your family navigate your loved one’s health challenges, be sure to recognize the signs it may be time for hospice and begin having the hard but necessary conversations about their wishes and goals for the time remaining.
