Are you passionate about bikes and community service? Join Bikes4All as a volunteer bike mechanic mentor!

Position Overview :

As a bike mechanic mentor, you'll guide a group of 3-5 high school students during the Bikes4All Alternative Saturday Academy Program (ASAP). Held three times each semester, this program brings together the Santa Cruz community to repair donated bikes, which are later given to those in need.

What You'll Do :

Mentor and teach high school students basic bike repair skills.

Work with students to fix bikes brought in by community members.

Contribute to providing reliable transportation to those who need it most.

Flexible Commitment:

There's no obligation to attend every event! Notices will be sent out before each program, and if you can't make it, that's perfectly okay.

Requirements:

General experience with bike mechanics is required.

Must have a clean criminal record and pass a background check.

Availability on select Saturdays during event dates (if possible).

What We Provide:

Some tools and bike parts (though you're encouraged to bring your own if possible).

Light refreshments for volunteers.

Occasional gift card giveaways as a token of our appreciation.

Description

B4A is looking for folks who have solid bike mechanic experience under their belts. We ask that you mentor groups of 3-5 students in fixing bike at Aptos High School. You will take on a transformative role as a "teacher" for students who may be struggling in the school system. The event lasts for just 4-hours.
