Project Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate volunteer to design and develop a new website for our school. The goal is to create a modern, user-friendly, and informative platform that reflects the school’s mission, supports communication with parents and stakeholders, and enhances visibility for potential donors and partners.
Volunteer Tasks and Responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering
- Collaborate with school administrators to understand goals, target audiences, and key content requirements.
- Identify key functionalities (e.g., events calendar, gallery, contact forms, Subjects, Admission, Our Team, blog/news updates).
Website Design
- Create a clean, responsive design aligned with the school’s identity.
- Propose color schemes, fonts, layouts, and navigation structure.
- Ensure accessibility and mobile compatibility.
Website Development
- Build the website using WordPress.
- Set up standard pages: Home, About Us, Programs, Admissions, News, Contact, social media links, Donate, etc.
Content Integration
- Upload and format initial content, images, and videos provided by the school team.
Testing and Launch
- Conduct user testing for functionality and performance across browsers and devices.
- Optimize the site for speed, SEO, and security.
- Support the school in launching the website live under its domain.
Training and Handover
- Offer basic training to designated school staff on managing and updating the website.
- Deliver documentation or tutorials for long-term maintenance.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in web design and development.
- Proficiency in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Wix)
