Living with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) makes daily tasks more challenging and to make life a little easier, we created the Helping Hands Volunteer Program. Right now, there is an opportunity to help People living with ALS through this program in Welches, OR. Can you help?
VOLUNTEER TASKS:
We are looking for a volunteer(s) in/or around Welches, OR who is available on a regular & ongoing basis to support a Person living with ALS with household chores, laundry, meal prep, running errands, and companionship.
TRAINING:
You do not need to have prior knowledge or experience to volunteer in this role. When you enlist as an ALS Helping Hands volunteer, we will coordinate an orientation session and additional training with you before you begin your volunteer service. The orientation will cover what ALS is, information about ALS Northwest, what to expect, best volunteering practices, volunteer policies, as well as answering any questions you might have. The orientation is virtual (zoom) or in person and runs about an hour and fifteen minutes.

ALS Northwest is committed to enhancing the quality of life of people living with ALS through the many cost-free programs we offer to individuals and families affected by ALS. We understand the value of those with the disease being able to communicate, function safely in their home, and travel to ALS Clinics for comprehensive evaluation and treatment. Our programs are designed to meet these essential care needs as well as the emotional needs of those in our community and caregivers. Our services are available to people with ALS in the entire State of Oregon and six counties of SW Washington: Pacific, Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania, and Klickitat.
