Do you love creating social media content and want to use your skills for a great cause? Somerset Pet Welfare Alliance (SPWA) is looking for a remote volunteer to help manage and grow our online presence.
We’re a one-person nonprofit helping pet owners in Somerset County, Maine, afford spay/neuter services for their cats and dogs. As our Social Media Volunteer, you'll help spread the word about our mission, fundraising events, success stories, and animal welfare tips.
Tasks include:
Creating and scheduling Facebook and Instagram posts
Writing engaging captions and selecting relevant hashtags
Promoting fundraisers, pet success stories, and educational content
Helping design graphics (using Canva or similar tools - we can provide templates!)
Optional: Reels, TikTok, or email newsletters, depending on your interests
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week, fully remote and flexible
Requirements: Strong writing or content creation skills, familiarity with Facebook and/or Instagram, and a passion for animal welfare. Canva experience is a plus but not required.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation in Somerset County, Maine by providing financial assistance to help local residents spay and neuter their cats and dogs. We believe every pet deserves a healthy, safe life, and every pet owner deserves access to affordable veterinary care--regardless of income. By focusing on prevention through spay/neuter funding, we aim to keep more animals out of shelters and improve the welfare of pets in our rural communities.

Somerset Pet Welfare Alliance (SPWA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation in Somerset County, Maine. We provide financial assistance to help local residents afford spay and neuter services for their cats and dogs. Our work focuses on prevention-keeping unwanted litters out of shelters and helping pet owners care responsibly for their animals, regardless of income.
SPWA is currently a one-person grassroots effort, powered by community donations, fundraising events, and local partnerships. We’re seeking volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare, community impact, and building sustainable change from the ground up.
