Thank you for your interest in volunteering at UCP-LI’s 5K Walk & Wheel Finale Celebration!

UCP-LI will have its annual 2025 5K Walk & Wheel during the month of September, with an in-person finale celebration on Saturday, September 27th, 2025. At the finale celebration, we will highlight the lead fundraising teams of the Walk n Wheel and will feature food, drinks, and fun family games and activities! The 5K Walk & Wheel brings together UCP-LI individuals, their family and friends, staff, business leaders, and community members to raise critical funds which benefit the programs and services provided by UCP-LI to individuals with disabilities. We are seeking outgoing adults (18 and over) who would like to donate their time to a great cause and help make the finale celebration a success!

For volunteers, good inter-personnel skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to help are the only requirements. This event will be comprised of registration duties, manning our different activity stations, assistance with grilling or passing out food and drinks to the guests, and assistance with cleanup throughout and after the event.

Training is provided, everyone works with a partner/ buddy, and all meals are on us! This will be a wonderful celebration - and we would be grateful for your help!

Description

United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island (UCP-LI) has an over 65-year history of fulfilling dreams, restoring hope and Creating Life Without Limits where it once seemed impossible. At the beginning of its history, children born with Cerebral Palsy or other developmental disabilities had a short life expectancy and were offered few, if any services. Many spent their lives growing up in institutions.

Today, as a result of the programs and services offered by UCP-LI, individuals with a disability are living long, rich lives. They are living independently in the community, achieving gainful employment, getting married, having children and so much more.

Through a wide range of programs and services, UCP-LI serves individuals with a range of developmental disabilities. At the Children’s Center a team of professionals offer students innovative Early Intervention, Preschool, and School Age programs. Our Adult Day programs build upon the skills learned in the early years and continue developing individuals’ interests in art, music, sign language, volunteerism and so much more. The Employment Connection helps prepare men and women to seek employment and continues to provide coaching and training as they navigate the workplace. United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island also has 31 family focused residential homes. Each home is beautifully maintained and offers 24 hour support to address the needs of each resident.

At United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island we are dedicated to Creating a Life Without Limits for each individual we serve.
