Camp Counselor for a Cause - Help Kids Just Be Kids - Cancer & Blood Disorder Camp
ORGANIZATION: CHILDRENS CANCER CAMPS OF NEBRASKA
Please visit the new page to apply.

Looking for an impactful way to spend a couple of PTO days this year?
Or maybe you're a college student between classes this summer and want to do something meaningful and unforgettable? Join us this summer for one of the most rewarding and unforgettable experiences of your life!
We’re looking for energetic, compassionate, and fun-loving volunteers to be camp counselors at our summer camp for children living with cancer and blood disorders. These kids face enormous challenges every day-camp gives them a rare chance to just be kids again, surrounded by others who understand what they’re going through, all with the safety and comfort of a full medical team on-site.
As a counselor, you’ll be more than just a chaperone-you’ll be a cheerleader, mentor, dance partner, flashlight holder, and maybe even a shoulder to cry on. Whether you're encouraging a camper to try the zip line for the first time, helping with arts and crafts, dancing silly to get the kids onto the dance floor, or sharing a laugh over a s’more-you’ll be helping create memories that last a lifetime.

Mission Statement
Bringing the magic of summer camp to children with cancer or blood disorders.
Description
Campers include children undergoing therapy for cancer or blood disorders, and those who have completed treatment. Children in remission share the camp with newly diagnosed children. Regardless of the age of diagnosis, they all share a common bond. Approximately half of the children who attend Camp CoHoLo receive medication for their condition. The volunteer staff at Camp CoHoLo includes pediatric hematology/oncology physicians and nurses from the Nebraska Medical Center and Children's Nebraska who maintain strict medication schedules and monitor the health of all campers.
