Reports to
Aging at Home Director
Job Purpose
Visit members’ home to do 'handyman’ jobs. If supplies are required, the member is responsible for payment.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Accept handyman assignments when able to perform the task, usually small jobs not requiring a professional.
· Confer with Director to determine which tasks are within capability of the volunteer.
· Contact member to schedule visit and confirm at least one day prior.
· Notify Director as soon as possible If unable to fulfill assignment before or during the assignment, or recommend type of professional required.
· Be courteous and professional.
Qualifications
· Willingness to perform handyman jobs for members
· Some general mechanical ability and access to basic tools to complete tasks.
· Dependability
· Clean background check
Time Commitment
· Time commitment varies with type of job/jobs, usually can be completed in a day or less.
· Jobs are scheduled whenever volunteer and member are available .

Mission Statement
Aging at Home is a membership-based program in South-east Delaware County, PA. It allows individuals 60 years and older to maintain independent lifestyles in their homes.
Description
Aging at Home welcomes volunteers who assist seniors by providing basic services. Volunteers are needed as:
a. Volunteer drivers: When an Aging at Home member needs to be driven anywhere within Delaware County they can request a ride. The ride destination can be a doctor’s office or a shopping center. As a volunteer driver, you have a flexible schedule, accepting rides when you are available.
When an Aging at Home staffer calls a prospective driver, the driver is provided with all the information needed: member’s address, destination, time frame, and can decide whether to accept the assignment. Drivers are free to drive where and when they wish, and are covered by additional liability insurance during volunteer drives.
b. Volunteer Handymen: . A Member may no longer be able to do chores like lightbulb changing, small repair jobs, or winter window insulation. Handyman Volunteers determine if the job described is something they can undertake.
c, Shopping Coaches:
Members call with shopping lists. Shopping Coaches assure that the orders are filled and delivered for free by Delco Transportation services the same day.
