Macoupin County: The Red Cross needs you to help your neighbors after home fires!

When someone is displaced by a home fire, it completely wrecks their world and their sense of safety. Red Cross volunteers show up when people need them the most, offering comfort, care, and helping them secure a safe place to sleep. We need caring volunteers like YOU to provide that care when your neighbors need you. We don't run into burning buildings and we don't put out fires. Our valued partners at your local Fire Department and EMA do that as your first responders. Red Cross people are the second responders, and we look after the people to make sure they will be okay. We show up, we listen, we offer simple care, and open a "case" for the household so the Red Cross can follow up with financial assistance and recovery casework services. If you are a compassionate person who is willing to answer a call for help and show up with another volunteer right away, we want you to join our Disaster Action Team as a responder. We provide the training and support you'll need to do a great job, and you can select your own schedule for when you are willing to be "on call" and when you can't. Let's talk about this great opportunity--please indicate your interest and I'll follow up, or email me at connie.dudgeon@redcross.org
