Volunteer Opportunity: Grant Writer (Remote)
Organization: Wezesha Tanzania Community Organization (WETACOM)
Location: Remote (Volunteers from any location are welcome)
Commitment: Flexible; approximately 5-10 hours per week
Duration: Minimum 3-month commitment preferred but we are flexible
About WETACOM:
Wezesha Tanzania Community Organization (WETACOM) is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and communities socially and economically, with a focus on gender perspectives. In the 2024/2025 period, WETACOM has undertaken several impactful projects aimed at addressing social challenges and promoting sustainable development in Tanzania.
Current Projects Include:
Street Families Outreach - Mwanza Town (August 2024): Supporting and rehabilitating street families by providing essential services and reintegration programs.
Women’s Leadership & Civic Education Program: Empowering women through leadership training and civic education to enhance their participation in governance and community development.
Education and Youth Vocational Training: Collaborating with institutions like Bright Smart Star Vocational Training Center and Ruzinga Driving School to provide practical courses, and sponsoring students across various educational levels.
To expand the reach and impact of these initiatives, WETACOM is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Grant Writer to identify and apply for suitable grant opportunities.
Role Overview:
The Volunteer Grant Writer will play a crucial role in researching, drafting, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for WETACOM's programs. This position involves collaborating with the team to understand funding needs, identifying potential grant opportunities, and crafting compelling proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and identify grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources that align with WETACOM's mission and programs.
Prepare well-written, persuasive grant proposals, ensuring they meet the guidelines and requirements of each funding opportunity.
Collaborate with WETACOM's staff and stakeholders to gather necessary information for grant proposals.
Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
Assist in tracking the progress of submitted proposals and managing awarded grants.
Qualifications:
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in using online research tools and databases.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Previous experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising is a plus but not required.
