Campground Host - Lake Mendocino

ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Lake Mendocino and Coyote Valley Dam is looking for a passionate and experienced volunteer campground host for the 2025 summer season! We are located in beautiful Northern California only a few hours away from breath-taking redwood forests, the gorgeous Mendocino coast, and the lively city of San Francisco. You will be stationed at Kyen Campground, a beautiful lakeside campground that offers a total of nearly 100 campsites.

This is a campground host position. Lodging availability is RV/Trailer pad with water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric hook-ups provide in exchange for 32 hours of work per week.

As campground host, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Manage camper registration and maintain accurate records using the Recreation.Gov platform.
  2. Conduct campground checks and light general maintenance (i.e., litter pick-up, etc.)
  3. Answer visitor questions regarding recreation opportunities and park rules.
  4. Relay camper complaints and compliance issues to Park Ranger staff.
  5. Open and close campground gates daily (when on duty).

A successful campground host has the following characteristics and qualifications:

  1. Friendly, cheerful, adaptable and professional manner.
  2. Prior customer service experience.
  3. Familiarity with computer basics and ability to navigate the Recreation.Gov website.
  4. Ability to sit or stand for significant periods of time.
  5. Ability to move about large campgrounds.
