UNITE-LA is currently recruiting mentors for its My Pathway to Health program.

My Pathway to Health is a paid work-based learning opportunity connecting youth 18-24 to pathways in to careers in allied health.

Mentors will be partnered with participants to meet via zoom for 1:1 breakout sessions for up to one hour. Mentor sessions will be scheduled twice over the 5-week period (June 24th- July 24th) based on availability, and a third time after.

Mentors do not need to have healthcare experience.

You can help by providing support and guidance with resumes, interviewing skills, professional development, and career and education guidance.

We will provide instruction and material before meeting the participants.

The mentor (YOU):

  • Will engage with the participant to begin building a relationship with an emphasis on career pathway development
  • Will support the participant with personal and professional development as needed
  • Will provide feedback to the student with actionable plans to further their career goals
  • Each mentor session should take no more than 1 hour

Mission Statement

UNITE-LA is the School-to-Career (STC) partnership that facilitates STC initiatives and activities throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), and the City of Los Angeles. Creating and implementing diverse and enriching programs and opportunities that support STC, UNITE-LA provides a seamless sequence of school- and work-based learning opportunities as well as connecting activities aimed at creating a vital link between classroom learning and â real worldâ living.

  • Student Involvement:

Presently there are approximately 8-900,000 students in UNITE-LA service area. UNITE-LA represents more than 660 traditional school sites and 240 learning centers throughout LAUSD as well as the nine community colleges within the City of Los Angeles. Targeting both in-and out-of-school youth, UNITE-LA also works with more than 15 local non-profit and city agencies targeting at-risk youth and many, many more community based, labor, government and other organizations. UNITE-LA strives to capture the interest of all students, starting as early as kindergarten to foster a life-long love of learning, academic achievement, and overall personal and career success.

Business/Professional Involvement:

Employers and professional organizations are an integral part of UNITE-LA and School-to-Career. Hundreds of area organizations â large and small â are supporting UNITE-LA and School-to-Career in a number of ways: in-class speaking opportunities, workplace field trips, job shadowing and mentoring, on-the-job training, internships, scholarship programs and career fairs are just some of the ways our professional partners are making an invaluable contribution to the success of UNITE-LA and School-to-Career.
