About Linked Mentoring
Linked Mentoring, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 2019, and is an LGBTQ+ e-mentoring program, where LGBTQ+ youth are matched with LGBTQ+ mentors to form affirming, trusting, and supportive mentoring relationships. We strive to create transformative mentorship opportunities where LGBTQ+ young people are invited to explore their passions, agency, and personhood alongside an intergenerational community.
Role Overview
Linked Mentoring is a remote-first organization that supports young people across the country. To enhance our holistic approach to mentoring, we are seeking dedicated volunteers in local communities to serve as Regional Community Ambassadors. These volunteers will help expand our network and provide valuable local insights, enabling us to better serve our young people and their families.
For this volunteer role, tasks include:
Completing a quarterly form with information regarding updates on relevant news, legislation, or opportunities taking place in your area
Maintaining a virtual list of vetted community organizations
Assisting other Linked Mentoring staff and volunteers with developing meaningful, intentional, and bidirectional community partnerships
Attending quarterly check-ins with the Director of Mentorship and/or the Director of Community Engagement
Other, as specified by the person occupying the role and Linked Mentoring team
Who You Are
As we are prioritizing volunteers located in states where we have mentees, right now we are primarily looking for people located in CA, CT, MA, MD, IL, and WA. If and when mentees in other states join our program, we will update the role description to invite prospective ambassadors in those areas. We welcome applicants with diverse lived, professional, educational, and volunteer experiences.
Community-Oriented: You maintain meaningful connections with other community members and organizations.
Self-Guided: You thrive in roles where you work independently, staying organized and motivated.
Informed: You appreciate staying up-to-date and engaged with what is happening in your community.
Passionate and Mission-Driven: Has a track record of supporting communities often excluded. Cares deeply about working with LGBTQIA+ youth and their families.
Effective Communicator: Exhibits strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members and communicate updates.
Adaptable and Proactive: Thrives in a dynamic environment, proactively adapting to changing circumstances and taking initiative to address challenges as they arise.
Commitment to Equity
We understand that there are numerous reasons why someone would read a job description and, despite "checking off most of the boxes", decide not to apply. Research supports that self-selecting out of potential professional opportunities is particularly common among individuals with minoritized identities or identities that are marginalized in professional spaces. Candidates who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), gender-expansive, disabled, veterans, and/or LGBTQIA+ are warmly encouraged to apply. Linked Mentoring is a LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and women-led organization of predominantly LGBTQIA+ staff.
We are committed to an equitable workplace, and to supporting our team with opportunities that nourish their passions and enrich their experience here. Linked Mentoring is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, cultural heritage, ancestry, political belief, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, or veteran status.
Please reach out to the Director of Mentorship, Jake, at jake@linkedmentoring.org with any questions, concerns, or requests for accommodations for the application, interview, or work as a member of our team.

Mission Statement
We strive to create transformative mentorship opportunities where LGBTQ+ young people are invited to explore their passions, agency, and personhood alongside an intergenerational community. We envision a world where LGBTQ+ young people are surrounded by affirming, trusted, and allied peers, adults, communities, and structures that support them to thrive with authenticity and pride.
Description
LGBTQ+ young people are disproportionately exposed to violence and marginalization based on homophobia, transphobia, queer criminalization, racism, ableism, capitalism, adultism, the patriarchy, and other systems of oppression. Many do not have any LGBTQ+ adults in their lives who are invested in their joy and growth. We are here to change that. We facilitate intergenerational mentoring relationships for LGBTQ+ young people that address the harm in their lives and celebrate them for who they are. Our programs are all-encompassing, reimagining mentorship to be individual, group, and peer. As a remote-first organization, we further reimagine mentoring by creating far-reaching access for LGBTQ+ young people across the country.
