Volunteer Landscaper

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Description of Duties:

• Aiding Facilities by using a weed wacker and push mower to trim areas of lawn to maintain and kept at a safe level

• Assisting Facilities with removal and proper disposal of yard and trash waste on park grounds

• Supporting Facilities with other minor landscaper as they arrive through the shift such as removal of debris, weeds, pinecones and rocks while using hand tools including shovels, broom, electric leaf blower, hand weeder, and rakes

• Lifting and moving cumbersome objects- no more than 40 pounds.

Notify volunteer supervisor of any issues or problems immediately by text message outside of this description


Working Environment and Safety Considerations:

• Comfortable being outside for extended time periods (2+ hours)

• Ability to use appropriate PPE (gloves, ear and eye protection, etc.)

• Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting, squatting, bending, crouching, and carrying heavy or cumbersome objects such as yard waste and large trash bags

• Ability to safely use and operate equipment provided by the park including hand tools, golf carts, weed wacker, push mower, and john deer gator
