Doing the most good

Join the rappelling fun as a volunteer by being a part of the team that helps others go Down For The Challenge for a cause. This special event is an effort to raise funds to support our homeless prevention programs. Rappellers are raising funds to rappel down 14 stories from the Omni Vikings Lakes hotel on Saturday, July 26.

One of the most important roles for this is event is our Ropes Volunteers. Whether you have experience or not in rappelling or working with ropes (such as rock wall climbing,) you will receive thorough hands-on training. All volunteers that train to be ropes volunteers will have the optional opportunity to rappel for free!

Below are different roles within the Ropes Volunteer Team:

  • Roof: Support Site Safety Supervisor at main rappel, help load participants and coach them over the edge
  • Training: Support Training Manager in training all participants before they go over the edge
  • Staging: Support Staging Manager, help get participants into gear and ready to go on the roof
  • Landing Zone: Belay ropes and assist participants when they finish their rappel

Ropes volunteers must be able to attend a 3-hour training on Friday, July 25 from 1-4 pm, and participate in the event all day on Saturday, July 26. This will be outdoors and requires a lot of standing, moving, grasping, and looking up or down for prolonged periods of time. Volunteer preferred to be 18+ years old.
