2025-2026 SHYFT Service Council (HS Students Only)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: SoulPhamm Inc

General Logo

We are looking for current high school students to join our 2026 service council, called SHYFT. HS students from NYC are welcome to join only if they can commit to occasional trips to Newark on a Saturday between 1pm and 4pm (October, December, January, March, June).

Members of SHYFT will be responsible for research and event planning/support. They will also work on social media campaigns.

SHYFT will meet virtually on Thursdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm (September 2025 to May 2026). Our next in-person activities won't be until October and by that time, you will have a schedule for the rest of the activities.

To join SHYFT you must -

  1. Attend a virtual orientation/interview session.
  2. Complete an application (if you're still interested after the orientation). It will be due on or before July 31st.
  3. Submit the application. After approval, you will be added to the group's BAND page.

You will earn "hours" for every meeting and check-in and will begin the program "full-speed" in September. We track every activity you participate in so that we can verify community service hours with your school. Students who complete the 2025-2026 season will also receive a letter of reference which can be used for employment and college scholarship applications.

No phone calls please.

About SoulPhamm Inc

Location:

7000 Hadley Road, Suite 1177, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.

Description

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.

SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
