Trail Safety Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The main role of a Trail Safety Volunteer is to provide support to Park Rangers conducting Freedom Trail and Black Heritage Trail tours. Volunteers will be expected to work in conjunction with Park Rangers to ensure walking tour is conducted in a coordinated and safe manner. In addition to assisting Park Rangers during tours, Trail Safety Volunteers will offer visitors friendly guidance and ensure a positive experience along the trails.

Volunteers are expected and encouraged to have a good sense of situational awareness. Volunteers will be provided with first aid and safety training to help with any minor cuts, scrapes and bruises that visitors may experience throughout the duration of a tour. Volunteers will also be briefed on appropriate resources to call in case of an emergency.


Volunteers should be able to complete a minimum of four hours per week, on a regular schedule. Shifts are 10:00-1:00 or 12:00-4:00, Wednesday - Sunday.
