Special Event - Plant Sale Fun!
Saturday, 5/31 | 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Join us at Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden for one of our favorite community gatherings of the year-our annual Plant Sale! We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help make the day a blooming success. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or simply enjoy being surrounded by nature and good company, there’s a place for you here.
Volunteer opportunities include helping with event set-up, assisting shoppers with plant selections, chatting with fellow plant lovers, handling sales, and keeping things running smoothly throughout the day. We also need help with clean-up after the sale.
Come for an hour or spend the whole day-whatever time you can give makes a big difference. This is a great chance to meet other garden supporters, learn more about plants, and enjoy the energy of a vibrant community event in a beautiful setting.
We’d love to have you with us!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to manage and develop a public garden based on a plant collection that demonstrates the best horticultural and environmental practices and that creates beauty for the public to enjoy. The Highline Botanical Garden Foundation (HBGF) is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit corporation in the State of Washington.
Description
The Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden was planted in 2000 and opened to visitors in 2001. The HBGF was founded by volunteers in 1999 that were committed to creating a regional garden in the Highline area, starting with the preservation of the Elda Behm's garden that stood in the shadow of SeaTac Airport’s proposed third runway. Through efforts of volunteers, the City of SeaTac, and the Port of Seattle, the Foundation moved thousands of plants from Elda’s garden. In 2005 the Seike Family and City of SeaTac relocated the Seike Japanese Garden from the nearby Des Moines Nursery that was scheduled for demolition due to the Airport expansion. Many of the plants in this collection are over 100 years old.
The Garden has slowly expanded by adding plant society beds with display gardens including roses, daylilies, irises, species fuchsia, and hardy fuchsia. Our most recent gardens include the Neighborhood Heritage Garden, Victory Garden, and Woodland Garden. We are also home to a community garden, apiary, and propagation area and greenhouse. The Foundation has built infrastructure to sustain the Garden: irrigation, pathways, and water features. Expansion occurs, according to the Garden’s master plan, as funding becomes available.
